Choose your time wisely.

Starts any time of the year.

Don’t compare your child to any other- we are all different

Let them choose their own potty/toilet trainer seat

Keep to a routine as much as possible

Let the nursery school and family know you are potty training. Advise them of your methods so that you can work together consistently.

Use a reward chart with some special stickers

Use a reward box for extra encouragement

Give lots of praise

Get them to carry their own potty with them everywhere. This give your child a sense of security.

Be organised- if you are going out, take spare clothes and pants with you.

Dress your little one in loose clothing so they can act quickly when they need to go.

Don’t forget to take little rewards with you when you are out and about as this helps training consistent with the home methods

Reduce liquids 30 minutes before bedtime

Do not revert back to nappies unless its special circumstances.

Patience pays. Don’t give up!
